West Elm, which is based in Dumbo, will be the anchor tenant in the retail-and-office complex coming to the old waterfront coffee warehouses known as Empire Stores. There, the home-furnishings company will continue its relationship with La Colombe with a joint “coffee shop and communal space.” The Post hints that the complex will also be home to more than one restaurant upon completion in 2016, which means those and the River Café, not to mention the incoming Shake Shack and the Seamus Mullen restaurant at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Pierhouse, Fulton Ferry, may eventually be its own food destination.
