McIlhenny Co. executives tell Quartz that even in an age of super-sized everything, its tiny, two-ounce bottles of Tabasco sauce account for approximately 40 percent of total sales, thanks to a growing international demand for hot sauce. The company tells the site its five-ounce bottles are gaining popularity because they’re “harder to steal,” and in the meantime, does not disclose how many of those even tinier 3.7 ml bottles are put into circulation, or who exactly buys those gargantuan gallon-jugs of the stuff for $40.
