Giuseppe Caputo, who made batches of fresh mozzarella daily for 30 years at his Carroll Gardens shop Caputo’s Fine Foods, died on March 21. The Puglia native opened Caputo’s in 1973 with his wife and rapidly expanded the business, becoming a much-beloved neighborhood fixture in the process. The shop will be closed through tomorrow.
