Hundreds of people (including Seth Meyers and Andy Samberg) got to try Dominique Ansel’s much-discussed chocolate-chip-cookie-and-organic-milk “shots” at SXSW over the weekend, and now the cronut inventor will begin serving the snack this Friday at his Spring Street bakery in Soho. Here’s everything you need to know before the big New York launch.

• Dominique Ansel’s cookie-and-milk shot goes on sale Friday, March 14, at 3 p.m. sharp. The kitchen will bake the cookies each afternoon, and the bakery is pitching the dessert along the lines of an updated “after-school special” sort of thing. It will, however, also be sold on Saturdays and Sundays.

• The shots will retail for $3 each, and the bakery is working on a take-home pack of 8 for $25.

• Around 200 milk-and-cookies shots will be available on the first day, and there’s a two-per-person limit. This all but guarantees a line of 1,500 people.

• The milk, which comes from Swede Farm in upstate New York, is organic and cold-infused with vanilla beans for 24 hours.

• Several bold cookie philosophers, including Chrissy Teigen, have pointed out that the fundamental aspect of milk and cookies is that you drink milk after you eat the cookie. Purists will be heartened to know that anyone may request a complimentary shot of milk (no cookie) to enjoy as a chaser, cleanse the palate, and generally avoid cookie heresy.

• If you like that infused, organic, ice-cold milk so much, it’s also available as a 16-ounce supplement, for $3.

• As if demonstrating the exact sort of pastry-kitchen engineering the world has come to expect from Ansel, the cookie part of the dessert has a crispy exterior and a soft interior. Cookies will also be served warm upon request.
