EV Grieve reports that Dennis Zentek, who opened the pioneering East Village beer bar d.b.a. with the late Ray Deter in 1994, died last night. D.b.a. has had an inestimable influence on the city’s beer scene during its 20 years of business. “Dennis with his friend Ray was one of the co-founders, co-pioneers, co-visionaries of what has become a huge family,” reads a post on the bar’s Facebook page, which also indicates that details for mourners are forthcoming.
