That recall of nearly 9 million pounds of cow parts recalled by Petaluma-based processor Rancho Feeding Corporation because they were derived from “diseased and unsound animals” now extends to Hot Pockets, of all things. Giant of Maryland has put out an alert for customers to discard various Hot Pocket Philly Steak & Cheese packages stamped with certain batch numbers, or just return them to the store for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported in conjunction with the gamut of beef organs and meat shipped by Rancho Feeding Corporation during 2013, but the USDA nonetheless says the recall is Class I, which means there’s a “reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences, or death.” Maybe tonight is instant ramen night?
