As if to one-up that Chicago sandwich-shop owner who launched his store’s “reconcepting” by firing all his employees with an e-mail sent just before Christmas, the new owner of a Pita Pit in Wellington, New Zealand, took to Facebook to inform two falafel handlers that their services were no longer required. One of them is a 20-year-old student who discovered she wasn’t listed on the schedule online. She contacted the owners, who sent her a Facebook message a few days later that said, simply, “You don’t have a job anymore.” In his defense, the proprietor says he’s new to the business, and by association, things like etiquette. And labor laws. [Stuff, Related]
