First Look at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Inn at Pound Ridge

After the success of ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina, and before the spring opening of his vegetarian restaurant in partnership with ABC Carpet & Home (tentatively called ABC Home Grown), Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open a more rural concept tonight in Westchester, close to his own home. “It was first going to be ABC Country, but it had been an inn, so we decided to stay with the name Inn at Pound Ridge," says the chef, who is focusing on food from local purveyors and incorporating these ingredients into dishes like roasted-kabocha-squash toast with fresh ricotta, and angel-hair pasta with caramelized Brussels sprouts. The building that houses the restaurant was originally built as a residence in 1833, but Vongerichten has fully restored it, keeping the original footprint and four working fireplaces. There are two dining areas — a main room upstairs and a more intimate downstairs area with stone floors and plenty of nooks. The place opens to the public tonight (provided the weather cooperates). Take a look at the space, some of the food, and the full menu, straight ahead.
