In the wake of this week’s news of shuttered neighborhood institutions, a manager at 7A in the East Village has confirmed to EV Grieve that the round-the-clock diner will close on January 26. Bedford + Bowery further notes that business has been slow for a while now, and the owners are eager to retire. Rumor has it that Serge Becker and Josh Pickard, the brains behind nightlife spots like the Box and Miss Lily’s, will take over the space with a southern-themed restaurant. If you were thinking of popping by for a last taste of wee-hour pie, wait until tomorrow: The diner is closed today as E! films the pilot of new show “Songbyrd.” [EVGrieve, Bedford + Bowery, Related, Related]
