Dolphin Meat

Restaurants in Italy Serving Dolphin Meat on the Sly

Swim away.
Swim away.

An undercover investigation conducted in Civitavecchia, a city north of Rome, has revealed that restaurants are illegally shaving bits of dried dolphin meat over salads made with onions, celery, and tomato. Apparently, all diners have to do is ask for “black” with their antipasti, the all-purpose code word shared by those people who can’t help themselves and absolutely have to eat a salad made from dried dolphin fillet. Caught in the sting so far is a proprietor, who was filmed saying “You didn’t eat this in my place, right?” Italy’s endangered-species-protection-services unit is investigating.
