Grindhaus in Red Hook Opens Thursday

After five years of planning and a build-out that was offset significantly by Hurricane Sandy, proprietor Erin Norris's twenty-seat Grindhaus will finally open at 275 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook on Thursday. Co-chefs Leon Douglas and Aaron Taber, who was most recently at the Pines, will serve a continuously evolving menu of hearty food like merguez tortellini and braised pork cheeks. There are also plans for a wood-burning oven for the backyard, which will give the chefs the chance to launch their ambitious-looking in-house bread program. [Earlier]
