Chef Kerry Simon Battling Aggressive Parkinson’s Disease

The Iron Chef winner now faces another battle.

The LA Market and Grill at Sapphire chef Kerry Simon is being treated for multiple system atrophy, a particularly aggressive form of Parkinson's disease, the Las Vegas Sun reports. The neurodegenerative disorder has no cure, and despite the fact that Simon is on a regimen of potentially disease-modifying drugs and has taken up a rigorous plan of physical therapy, he is still actively managing his restaurant empire. “It is heart-breaking," business partner Elizabeth Blau says. "Kerry is the kindest, gentlest soul. This is beyond unfair.” [Las Vegas Sun, Related]
