EV Grieve notices that the Union Square location of TGI Fridays is up for a “negotiable” lease. This may not mean the restaurant will shutter anytime soon, but meanwhile, a notice filed last month with the Department of Labor indicated that the homegrown chain’s location near Penn Station is closing, and this hasn’t been the best of times for the restaurant: Earlier this year, thirteen New Jersey franchises were implicated in statewide investigation called “Operation Swill” that revealed unscrupulous employees were replacing top-shelf booze with bargain-basement spirits.
