Here’s another story involving the NYPD and regular food purchases that’s along the lines of that Jolly Rancher drug bust. In February of last year, cops cornered Catherine Cyrus after she bought a Sprite at a Bed-Stuy bodega, allegedly demanding to see her ID and her purchase. One thing led to another, and Cyrus spent five days in jail on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction for refusing to leave the area or let the cops fingerprint her, before the case was thrown out by a judge for being “completely incredible.” The case against the offending officers is currently under review.
