As the debate continues on about the state of women chefs industry-wide, The Atlantic reminds everyone that beer brewing is another area where women once dominated — 4,000 years ago. The Ancient Egyptian brewing scene was quite the girls' club, it turns out, but now, for example, among the 154 facilities in Colorado,"There are only 10 women total who are known to be a part of the main brewing process." On the plus side, the continuing rise of the craft-beer industry is attracting more female brewmasters to the field. [The Atlantic]
