Ryan Sutton Weighs in on Balthazar’s Bathroom Attendants

In the wake of Keith McNally’s vow to do away with bathroom attendants (and to reassign them to other jobs within the company), Bloomberg restaurant critic Ryan Sutton went on WNYC to say that the bathroom attendants are still on the job at Balthazar. As for the much-debated future of bathroom attendants, Sutton draws a line between clubby places like Tao Downtown and brasseries, but in general says the practice is outdated. Most of all, cleaning the bathroom should be everybody’s job, he says.
