Balaboosta Cookbook Tasting; Bar Food Blowout at Pork Slope

• Fashion designer threeASFOUR, culinary curator Naama Shefi, and pastry chef Uri Scheft of Breads Bakery are collaborating on MER KA BA, an immersive multimedia installation at the Jewish Museum. Fest, an interactive performance that is part of the exhibit, will feature three female performers wearing couture dresses made of baked bread. Audience members will be invited to perform a ritual hand-washing before breaking bread off of the dresses to dip into spices. The event will take place on November 10. [Grub Street]

• On November 12, Pork Slope will host its second Bar Food Blowout event with Dale Talde and guest chef Lauren Hirschberg from Craftbar, where the duo will whip up their takes on bar food. Tickets, which are $20 per person, include a plate of food and a “Slippery Slope”—a beer and whiskey shot combo. There will be a 7:30 and an 8:30 p.m. seating; tickets can be purchased online. powerHouse on 8th will host a cookbook tasting of Einat Admony’s recipes in Balaboosta on November 23 from 4 until 5 p.m. Melissa Vaughan, author of The New Brooklyn Cookbook, will prepare recipes from the book, while Admony will be on hand to sign copies. • On November 14 at 7 p.m., Alobar will host its second anniversary dinner. The event will feature unlimited beer from Barrier Brewing and whole hogs served family style at communal tables. Tickets are $80 per person and can be purchased online. [Grub Street]

• The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden will host a lecture and tasting of candies through the 19th century on November 24 at 1 p.m. Susan Benjamin, the president of Cool Confectionaries, will lead the audience through the history of candy in the United States.
