New York has the “Sainted” Arepa Lady, and San Francisco has the equally venerated Tamale Lady, a “vagabond abuela” who’s even been the subject of a documentary. (The ladies also go by Maria Piedad Cano and Virginia Ramos, respectively.) The street-food vendor was kicked out of Zeitgeist, her long-term beer-garden haunt, earlier this year, but is working diligently on opening a brick-and-mortar tamaleria. The accompanying Indiegogo campaign is short some $30,000 of its $50K goal, however, with just four days left on the clock. Check it out, hot tamale perks and all, right here. [Indiegogo, Related]
