The other day we learned of Makers and Merchants, the forthcoming Brooks Brothers steakhouse that may serve as the first in a “national rollout” of preppy-beefy clones across the country, and now along comes Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue, an in-store dining concept named for design icon Sophie Gimbel. The retailer will first open the contemporary American restaurant in Chicago in January, then follow up with a second outpost in the retailer’s midtown flagship, which is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation. If all goes as planned, Sophie’s is set to open at Saks stores in Sarasota and San Juan after that. [Yahoo, Earlier]
