Gran Electrica’s Dia de Muertos Party; Nightwood’s Jason Vincent at City Grit

Gran Electrica is hosting its annual Dia de Muertos party on Thursday, October 31, with a special dinner service from 6 to 10:30 p.m. (the fiesta starts at 9 p.m.). There will be specialty cocktails, themed dishes, a traditional Mexican brass marching band, a live D.J., and plenty of dancing. [Grub Street]

• Chef Jason Vincent of Nightwood in Chicago will be cooking dinner at City Grit on November 9. The dinner, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature non-fussy dishes from one of Food & Wine’s best new chefs. Tickets are $85 per person, or $135 for two, and can be purchased online. [Grub Street]

• Not My Day Job, an annual charity event to benefit Heritage Radio network and Fourth Arts Block, is taking place this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Prince George Ballroom. The event will feature talented performers from the culinary industry and will have over 25 restaurants and bars serving up cocktails and food. The lineup includes the likes of Khe-Yo, Anfora, Colicchio & Sons, and Commerce. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased here. [Grub Street]

Saxelby Cheesemongers is hosting a tasting menu and signing event for the new Buttermilk cookbook by Diane St. Clair at Ardesia. The event, which will take place on October 26 from 2 to 4 p.m., will feature a three-course buttermilk-centric tasting menu paired with wines. Each attendee will receive a copy of the book, as well as have a chance to meet the author herself. Tickets are $75 person and can be purchased online. [Grub Street]
