Barbuto’s Jonathan Waxman Linked to New Nashville Restaurant

Well, it seems like Jonathan Waxman didn’t take our (admittedly self-serving) advice: The California cuisine pioneer and Top Chef Masters contestant is reportedly converting a former car-care place and tire store in Nashville into a brand-new restaurant. (Hopping outside of his base city, too, like Rick Bayless and Graham Elliot.) Earlier this year, the chef told the Tennessean how impressed he was by the area’s farms, along with the city’s burgeoning restaurant scene. “I don’t think you have to talk me into it,” he said. This week, however, Waxman won’t confirm plans or discuss menu details, but the first bit of information may also be the most important to consider: The West Village’s Barbuto was a car garage before it was a restaurant, just like the building at 1210 McGavock Street down south.
