In addition to Pastis, East 54th Street Italian restaurant BiCE, which specializes in Northern Italian pastas, also recently filed notice with the Department of Labor announcing plans to close at the end of the year, but Crain’s reports the midtown development may be more tactical than anything else. Owner Piermario Del Rosso tells the publication that the cost of unionized labor is making business untenable at the restaurant, which is part of an international franchise.
