An outpost of the Long Island–based panini chainlet La Bottega is set to open in the former Caselnova space on Columbia Street. Owner Giuseppe Ruta worked at Lupa before opening his first location in Garden City in 2003; one dozen shops, in Long Island, Queens, and New Jersey, have since followed. Giuseppe and his wife, Marisa, now franchise La Bottega locations, which serve a lengthy menu of salads and grilled sandwiches, including a six-foot variety. The incoming restaurateur’s proprietors appeared at a CB6 meeting last night seeking a liquor license for the space. [CB6]
