Two months ago exactly, Paula Deen went on Today to address the racial discrimination and sexual harassment charges filed by former manager Lisa Jackson. “There’s someone evil out there that saw what I had worked for,” the celebrity chef said, her career unraveling on air, “and they wanted it.” Now that the lawsuit has been dismissed and the parties have reached a settlement (terms have not been made public), Deen has released a statement thanking Jackson for her “more than five years” of service, adding that recent events have made her stronger.

And the gratitude appears to be mutual! “I assumed that all of my complaints about the workplace environment were getting to Paula Deen, but I learned during this matter that this was not the case,” Jackson says, in a released statement. “The Paula Deen I have known for more than 8 years, is a woman of compassion and kindness and will never tolerate discrimination or racism of any kind toward anyone.”
