Yesterday afternoon, a Savannah U.S. District judge dismissed the racial-discrimination claims against Paula Deen and her brother Earl “Uncle Bubba” Hiers filed last year by a former manager at Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House. The sexual harassment claims still stand, of course, but just in case anyone wanted the opinion of Belvin Perry, who is perhaps best known for presiding over the trial of Casey Anthony, the Florida chief judge says it’s time to move on. “She gave a heartfelt apology and I accepted her apology and as far as I’m concerned it’s over with and done,” he told reporters over the weekend. As a sign of solidarity, Perry, who may soon be getting his own daytime TV show, attended a family reunion at Deen’s restaurant the Lady and Sons in Savannah. [Local 6/WKMG, Earlier]
