Odessa Café and Bar Closing Saturday

One vital part of Odessa, that venerated, late-night Alphabet City destination, will close after the last cup of vodka is poured on Saturday, August 31, while the business will soldier on with blintzes next door after consolidation with Odessa at 119 Avenue A, which remains open. The restaurants have operated in tandem for more than three decades. Earlier this summer, it was reported that a "new American brasserie/bistro" would take the place of the old Ukranian dive at 117 Avenue A; new owners and plans have not yet been announced. [EV Grieve]
