City comptroller hopefuls Eliot Spitzer and Scott Stringer went shot for shot with a series of personal attacks during last night’s debate on NY1, and in a lightning round, WNYC’s Brian Lehrer asked Stringer if he’d ever eaten a cronut. Stringer hesitated and flicked his finger on the podium before answering “No.” Spitzer was quick to say he hadn’t either, and though the men kept their game faces on the entire time, both seemed somewhat flummoxed by this very serious question.
