Last fall, there were reports that the hamburger chain, which has a Long Island location and a few scattered just north of the city, was looking to set up shop in New York City, starting with Staten Island. While reps confirmed that Sonic was indeed looking at the borough, nothing more came of it; then Hurricane Sandy happened, and everyone forgot about carhops and malts. Gothamist now notes that Sonic has a Craigslist ad out for its first NYC outlet, which will open in “the New Year,” rumor has it, in Richmond Valley. [Gothamist, Earlier]
