Following the announcement that Sam Sifton would step down from his position as national editor in order to helm a digital “magazine experience” and a “new dining news product,” the paper’s editors have announced the seven-year-old food blog will shut down. “Today the Dining section is ending the blog in order to consolidate all of our food coverage on the main Dining page, creating a single destination for readers,” a note on the site reads. Many of the regular columns that appeared on Diner’s Journal will continue on, full speed ahead, over at the paper’s Dining & Wine landing. [Diner’s Journal/NYT, Earlier]
