It’s been noted that the pizzaiolo-to–East Village–resident ratio hovers somewhere around one-to-two, and the sauce and cheese saturation is perhaps part of the reason why L’asso’s one-and-a-half-year-old First Avenue location closed for business last week. Bowery Boogie reports that the original Mott Street L’asso confirms the shutter is permanent, while EV Grieve finds out co-owner Greg Barris left the restaurant six months ago. No word on what the restaurant’s replacement will be, but a new pizza place is a very fair bet. [BB, EV Grieve, Related]
