Citing “sources close to the restaurant,” Gothamist reports that the 100-year-old Grand Central Oyster Bar has signed a lease to open in the old Park Slope Fornino space, which would be the storied restaurant’s second-ever New York location and fourth overall. No more details are currently available, but several multi-unit restaurateurs and national franchises have reportedly been touring the former pizza restaurant at 256 Fifth Avenue, which closed in January of this year, so this would make sense. Gothamist reports the new oyster bar will make its debut — presumably with a counter space for solitary slurpers and a few of those tilting skillets used to make the restaurant’s world-famous pan roasts — by the end of this year.
