Video: The Last Night at Big Nick’s

Last night — or, technically speaking, very early this morning — New York lost yet another institution: Big Nick’s, the charming diner that has been serving burgers and pizza (and omelettes and sandwiches and salads and everything else) to Upper West Siders since it opened in 1962, closed its doors for good. (West Side Rag says owner Nick Imirziades, who no longer owns the Big Nick’s on 71st Street, is looking for a new location, but nothing’s official yet.) Abraham Riesman was there to capture the scene last night — if you never thought eating a French fry could be bittersweet, you owe it to yourself to check out the video, straight ahead.
