GQ’s food critic will post reviews every Monday morning with a star system. The first review is on the new Franny’s: He calls the food “unfussy yet meticulously assembled and rarely anything but very good” and the wine list the “geekiest list in America.” But the restaurant only warrants two stars (out of four), in part because of “excessively al dente” pasta and “earnest” desserts. While Richman’s reviews will initially focus on New York restaurants, he plans to expand his scope to places around the country. Watch out, Pete Wells: You’ve got some competition for the job of America’s Restaurant Critic. [Earlier, GQ]
