Sons of Essex Has a New Executive Chef

Roger Llanes, who worked at Eleven Madison Park before becoming the chef at BLT Prime, is now the chef at Sons of Essex on the Lower East Side. The future of the brunch menu's legendary mac-and-cheese omelette is uncertain, but Llanes, a former U.S. Marine, plans to include his grandmother's recipe for pork and tomato nacatamales on the new menu, which will debut soon.
