Following the pond-skipping lead of restaurateurs Keith McNally and Michael White, Nello Balan is bringing a branch of his Upper East Side Nello to Mount Street in Mayfair, London. The Daily Mail reports that Balan, who’s something of a legal proceedings regular, has signed a twenty-year lease to open in the former Serafino, which closed recently after 40 years in business. The paper estimates the incoming Nello will cost the restaurateur $6 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for an establishment that sells plates of pasta for more than it costs to buy an iPhone and a plain ol’ “Kobe” steak retails for $750 for no reason whatsoever.
