The restaurant critic, who was fired from the foundering newspaper on May 17 after twenty years on the job, has been hired by Eater NY to pen a series of “microneighborhood dining guides” and report on “crucial overlooked discoveries” in our most far-flung districts. Sietsema’s exploits have made the pages of the New York Times, and his influence on the city’s vast, unheralded food cultures was famously detailed in a Calvin Trillin New Yorker piece from 2001. Along the way, Sietsema has written for Lucky Peach and Gourmet, and we’re very much looking forward to his first column at Eater. [Eater NY, Earlier]
