Root Hill Burger’s Backyard; Taste of Mexico Dinners at Mercadito

Root Hill Burger has opened its backyard patio to welcome in the summer, and to celebrate, the resaturant is offering a complimentary beer, wine, or kombucha with purchase of a burger on May 19. [Grub Street]

• The Jewish holiday of Shavuot falls on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, and to mark the occasion, Breads Bakery is making a few special items. Cheesecake, cheese and chocolate pie, and cheese and fruit pie will all be available until the end of the holiday. [Grub Street]

• This Saturday, Hester Street Fair is bringing a taste of New Orleans to the LES. Exchange Alley will be serving up its trademark jambalaya balls, and Imperial Woodpecker will be there with icy Sno-Balls. [Grub Street]

• On May 16 from 7 to 10 p.m., Peter Altenburg, owner of GILT and Butch & Hog in Copenhagen, and Henrik Hammer, founder of Geranium London Dry Gin, will guest-bartend a cocktail event at Aamanns-Copenhagen in promotion of the launch of the latter’s Danish gin brand. [Grub Street]

Mercadito Grove and Mercadito Avenue B are offering the May edition of their Taste of Mexico dinners on the 16th and 17th. Dishes include red snapper ceviche and chipotle-tomato-braised pork. The dinner is $25 with an optional $5 for choice of specialty cocktails. [Grub Street]

• To promote its newly transformed Terminal 4, Delta airlines is launching a pop-up space at 376 Broadway in Soho. T4X, as it’s called, seeks to re-create the feel of the terminal within the city, and from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. through May 22, they will offer a lunch menu composed of new airline fare for just $4 a meal.
