You may recall the recent news that Don Pisto’s owner Pete Mrabe was expanding his North Beach presence by opening Pisto’s Tacos in the former Nico’s Tacos space. (He also operates Chubby Noodle at Amante and is opening Central Station, a new deli, as well as another Chubby Noodle in the Marina, so he’s quite busy.) Well, Tablehopper brings word that the opening is happening Thursday evening, May 2, and you can expect “street-style tacos on hand-pressed tortillas, a smaller version of the Pisto’s burger (for $4), burritos, housemade tamales, and about 40 beers.” [Tablehopper] Update: Mrabe as already nixed the taco concept, and as of May 17, this place has reopened as Pisto’s, a more upscale thing.

Pisto’s Tacos - 1310 Grant Avenue at Vallejo - Opening hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly, with lunch coming soon.
