Pisto’s Tacos Closes; Pisto’s, Something More Upscale, May Open Thursday In Its Place

A quick item from over in North Beach: The barely two-week-old Pisto’s Tacos (1310 Grant Avenue), a spinoff of Don Pisto’s, closed as quickly as it opened, and Tablehopper and SF Mag both report that owner Pete Mrabe has decided the concept just didn’t work in the space. It may reopen as soon as Thursday as Pisto’s, with a more “upscale” menu (dry aged steaks, ceviche, goat), table service, and a raw bar. And there will only be 35 seats, with some walk-ins, and an unlisted reservations number that you can only get in person. In related news, tacos are back on the menu at Don Pisto’s (we’re guessing there might have been an outcry about that). [Tablehopper, SF Mag]
