It’s a big day for New York–centric chains. Patsy’s Pizzeria is opening its first outer-borough restaurant in Queens along the Utopia Parkway in Whitestone. Owner Frank Brija is even “seasoning” the new bricks to ensure that the new location has the same charm and taste as the original. It’s not the only chain that’s expanding: Midtown’s gaining a Xi’an Famous Foods on West 45th Street (near Fifth Avenue) on April 22. The outpost will have two kitchens to meet demand during the lunch rush — and the owner might even use the previous tenant’s pizza oven. He’s also planning to open an Upper West Side Xi’an. Hooray for easy access to Liang Pi cold noodles and old-school thin-crust pizza. [NYDN, Daily Meal]
