In an errant search for Toto and Dorothy, a freak whirlwind tore through Pasadena’s Victory Park farmers market sometime around 12:45 P.M. on Saturday, trashing vendors’ stands and leaving a few farmers bruised and battered from flying detritus after canopies were swept about 40 feet into the sky before crashing down again. Citrus farmer Vicki Bernard tells The L.A. Times, “Thank God it didn’t happen two hours earlier when the market was crowded, that would have been a bloody disaster.” [LAT]
