Vera Likes Mondays, Suckling Pig Sundays at Mercat, LM Kids Menu & More

Things are happening that are maybe not quite big enough for a post alone but still, you will be happy to know them! For instance, your life just got 1/7th better with the news that as of Monday, Vera will be open on Mondays. According to the Mendezes (Mendezii?), once they started taking reservations at the start of the year, they realized a lot of people wanted to make reservations for Monday, too. They’ll have some special specials on Mondays, including $1 oysters and Monday Night Flights of wine or beer.

• And as long as we’re talking Spanish food and pork— but not Mondays so there’s no conflict here— Mercat a la Planxa is launching Sunday Suckling Pig Suppers, or as they say over there, Cochinillo Asado Sunday Suppers, a four-course menu including pork feast. Wait, you say, haven’t they always had that? Yes, but you had to get together a large party of your own to share the pig— now you can just order it on Sunday nights for as few as two people for $45 per.

Brasserie by LM launches a new French-tinged kids menu including Nutella-stuffed French toast at breakfast or a Kiddie Bibb salad at lunch.

The Pump Room at the Public Hotel has overhauled its weekend brunch menu, including new sweets from dessert chef Kady Yon and main items such as a smoked-salmon-spicy-hollandaise Toad in the Hole.

• River North bar and restaurant Municipal is launching brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 to 3 p.m. Chef Jeffrey Arasi will whip up classics like French toast or steak and eggs to go with the Municipal Mimosa, the Absolut Bloody Mary and other libations.
