Adam Fleischman’s Umami Restaurant Group is partnering with the team behind this is not a pop up and Levity Entertainment Group to bring The Improv in West Hollywood a new restaurant named Roadhouse L.A. Robbie Richter, whose experience extends to New York barbecue restaurants Hill Country and Fatty ‘Cue will be in the kitchen, while Patrick Swayze’s ghost will presumably man the door.

L.A. Weekly posits the concept as a broader embrace of smoked meat cookery than is usually found in barbecue restaurants, with Fleischman telling Besha Rodell, “We want to take barbecue traditions and turn them on their ear, give them a global spin…So, for instance, we’re going to do a fajita plate, but instead of the same old fajitas we’ll do smoked lamb neck, jerk chicken and short rib randang fajitas” The owner also includes dishes like Punjabi poutine with curried goat, pimento mac and cheese, whole shoulders and heads, and pork ribs with fish sauce as possible inclusions on the menu. Roadhouse L.A. plans to open this summer at the comedy club, with seats available over lunch and dinner whether you’re seeing a show or not.

Roadhouse L.A. at The Improv, 8162 Melrose Ave. West Hollywood.
