Tosca Renovations, and Thus the Reopening, Delayed

Tosca

New owner Ken Friedman, as he told us previously, had expected to take possession of Tosca Café in North Beach by late March, closing it by now to begin the renovation process. But that hasn’t happened yet because the liquor license transfer has taken much longer than expected, as the Chron reports. So, Tosca remains open and under the watchful eye of longtime owner and manager Jeannette Etheredge, holding court at the end of the bar, pending its makeover at the hands of chef April Bloomfield (The Spotted Pig), and Friedman. (Note that Friedman has already said that there will always be a place for Jeannette there at the bar.) We believe the new Tosca, then, will likely be looking at a September or October opening, but such predictions are never wise. [Chron, Earlier]
