What to Eat at the Lobby This Spring

It seems like everyone has been releasing new spring menus this week, and The Lobby is no exception. Chef Lee Wolen might be one of the most underrated chefs in town, but dinner at The Peninsula isn’t as pricey as one might think. Instead of a tasting menu, Wolen keeps it simple with a la carte options like artichoke soup with crispy chicken and asparagus and peekytoe crab salad with sea urchin to start. Entrees include olive oil poached Pacific halibut with razor clams, gulf shrimp in lemongrass broth and New York strip steak and oxtail with black garlic and fava beans. Of course, Wolen’s signature whole roasted chicken for two, stuffed with brioche and butter, is still on the menu. But here’s the update: what might be the most tender chicken breast in Chicago is now accompanied with ramps, morels and marbled potatoes. [Official Menu PDF]
