Independent publisher Peter Workman died yesterday in New York at the age of 74 after a battle with cancer. Workman founded the company that bears his name back in 1968, and while its catalogue has always included books on a wide variety of subjects, you’ve no doubt enjoyed meals made possible by the company’s formidable cookbook list, which includes the beloved and best-selling Silver Palate Cookbook and Thomas Keller’s enormously influential French Laundry Cookbook. The house and its imprints also published books by Eric Ripert, Frank Stitt, David Tanis, and many, many more. [Workman]
