Palmer’s Tavern, the Long Bar Replacement, Opening Soon on Upper Fillmore

You may recall that back in December, word arrived that Albert and Klaus Rainer, owners of Leopold’s, inked a deal to take over the shuttered Long Bar (2298 Fillmore at Clay). Now the Scoop announces the name, Palmer’s Tavern, and says that they’re getting close to an opening, though no firm date has been set and a few final permits are still in the works. They promise “unfussy and honest” food to suit the tavern-like space, and there’s a new mural of Fillmore Street on one wall. As for the name, that comes from a family friend named Palmer who owned a tavern in the fifties. [Scoop]
