4/20 Brings Beer-B-Que and Grateful Dead Tribute Band to City Tap House; Bars and Restaurants Nerd Out for Science Fest

• Saturday is April 20, the 110th day of the Gregorian calendar, and 4/20, the day that pot-smokers and other advocates of the wacky tobacky from all over the world celebrate cannabis culture. Here in Philly, City Tap House is commemorating the “high holiday” with a Beer-B-Que, and pig roast. Twenty bucks gets you in the door, and in on the roasted pig. Pints of Brooklyn Brewery beers will be offered for $4. And a Grateful Dead tribute will noodle away the afternoon on the patio. [Grub Street]

• Friday night brings former Next Iron Chef contestant and frequent Chopped! judge Maneet Chauhan to Tashan for a book signing and dinner. Chauhan and Tashan chef Sylva Senat will serve dishes from her new book Flavors of My World. The $95 dinner includes several course, signature cocktail and copy of the book. Reservations are required. [Grub Street]

• Philadelphia Science Festival is back, bringing with it a ton of far out and fascinating food and drink related programming at local restaurants and bars between now and April 28. Highlights include Nerd Nites at Frankford Hall, a two-hour tasting and fermentation discussion at Manayunk Brewery, a pub crawl focusing on the five senses, an evening devoted to honey, bees and hives, and more. Check the full schedule here. [Grub Street]

• Taste of the Nation, the annual fundraiser for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign is coming up on April 28 at Hotel Monaco. The organizers sent us word today that 10 VIP tickets to the otherwise sold out affair became available. Get them while they last. [Grub Street]

• Missed Michael Solomonov and Federal Donuts on The Chew earlier this week? No worries. You can watch the full segment here. [YouTube]

• Good news: Pub & Kitchen is open again after taking a brief time out for renovations, which brought the popular Rittenhouse bar an all new kitchen and an all around refreshed look and feel. New chef Eli Collins marked the occasion with the roll out of a fully revamped menu. [Foobooz]

• Italian Market mainstay Sabrina’s is out of the business of serving dinner. From here on out, it will only serve breakfast and brunch. Its sister locations at 18th and Callowhill and 34th Street and Powelton will continue offering dinner. [Insider]
