Jeremiah Stone and Fabian Von Hauske’s Contra Closer to Opening on the LES

Former Isa sous-chef Jeremiah Stone and pastry chef Fabian Von Hauske are still on track to open their 40-seat restaurant Contra at 138 Orchard Street this spring. The chef-owners first exchanged ideas at the French Culinary Institute, where they both worked, and Von Hauske has cooked at Jean-Georges, Noma and Fäviken. Once open on the LES, Stone and Von Hauske will serve a $55 tasting menu that changes daily; as a warm-up, the chefs will collaborate with Jason Fox at Commonwealth in San Francisco for a special, more-than-ten-course dinner on Thursday, May 16.
