The grill has gone cold and the whirling smoothie machines have come to a full stop at Cocktail Bodega, reports Eater. Matt Levine confirms the closing of his seven-month-old Lower East Side restaurant and lounge, an ambitious fusion of juice bar culture and high-proof alcohol, citing building issues that will require partial demolition of its basement and first floor. Fans of spare ribs and drinks made with both Grey Goose L’Orange and carrot juice will be delighted to learn Cocktail Bodega is not totally down for the count, though: Levine says it’ll be “relocating” for the time being while the building undergoes renovation.
